Easter 11+ Intensive Course for Year 5 in 2023

All our Easter 11 Plus Intensive Courses Prepare for the Buckinghamshire, South West Herts Consortium, Slough/Kendrick and Reading School Entrance Exams

  • I would like to tell you that she has “loved” the Easter course, her word, and is very enthused by her time there. It’s a small point to an adult, but she really likes her new folder and she is very proud of it with the new books. Providing the stationery and laying out the tables neatly before the children arrived also had a very positive impact on her. Thank you!

What you can expect for your child on our 11 Plus Easter Course?

We develop pupils’ knowledge so they’re equipped to answer a broad range of challenging verbal, mathematical and non-verbal reasoning questions.

Small classes

Our Easter 11 Plus Intensive Courses are limited in size, which means that your child will have valuable one-to-one attention with their fully qualified teacher. Discover the proven benefits of small class sizes.

Marie Redmond Tuition® Easter Course Resources

Marie Redmond's Superbrain® 11+ Easter Course Verbal Reasoning BookAt the start of the course, your child will receive their Easter 11+ intensive course books. This will include a Marie Redmond’s Superbrain® 11+ Verbal Reasoning Book,Marie Redmond's Superbrain® Rucksack in addition to books that are carefully curated each year from a wide range of reputable publishers.

If a student has not studied with us before, the books will be presented in a Marie Redmond Tuition® rucksack, featuring an electronic thesaurus, notebook and a pencil case containing pencils, an eraser and sharpener.

Students complete a small number of short, timed tests during every lesson. Mistakes are reviewed afterwards and exam strategies are discussed. At the end of the Easter course, parents receive their child’s assessment results and an anonymised cohort comparison table.

11+ homework at Marie Redmond TuitionTo help reinforce skills taught during the Easter 11 Plus intensive course, we’ll provide homework at the end of each lesson – with reviews of each topic in the following session. This gives pupils the opportunity to ask any questions on areas they may have struggled with. As reading comprehension and vocabulary are such important parts of the 11 Plus exams, we recommend that parents encourage their children to read as wide a range of fiction and non-fiction books as possible.

To help your child consolidate their memories and continue to absorb new information, we include one 10 minute break on each day of the Easter 11 Plus Intensive Course.  During our virtual courses, there is a 5 minute break in each 90 minute lesson, as well as a 30 minute break between sessions.

The importance of sleep

As sleep plays an important role in consolidating new memories, we recommend that your child gets as much sleep as possible during the week of their Easter 11 Plus Intensive Course and any other key periods of learning. School-age children need between 9 and 12 hours of sleep a night and there are a few simple things you can do to help them get to sleep, such as turning off the TV, tablet or computer at least two hours before bedtime – the light from these can interfere with the production of the hormone melatonin, which affects sleep-wake cycles.

As we’re registered with Ofsted, we accept payment by Tax-Free Childcare (and Childcare Vouchers) for all our classroom-based courses. If you’re eligible for Tax-Free Childcare, you can save 20% on the cost of your child’s course. For every £8 you pay into the scheme, the government will pay in £2, up to a maximum top-up of £2000 per year. Many of our students’ parents take advantage of this scheme and you can find out here if you are eligible. You can select this payment method when you register, or you can switch to it at anytime during your child’s course.

For virtual courses, educational providers are unable to accept payment by Tax-Free Childcare or Childcare Vouchers; this is explained in our article about Tax-Free Childcare and Childcare Vouchers.
